- On the day of a race, the dogs who will be racing are weighed-in when they arrive at the track at a designated weigh-in period, usually an hour to an hour and a half before the start of the First Race. For example, all greyhounds racing at night, with a post time of 7:30pm for the first race, will weigh-in from 6pm – 6.30pm.<\/li>\n
- The weigh-in is conducted by Track and State officials including a State-licensed veterinarian, State Judge, the Clerk of the Scales, Leadouts and the Paddock Manager.<\/li>\n
- Once the dogs are weighed and cleared for racing, they are kenneled by track personnel. The trainers will not handle the dogs until after their races are completed.<\/li>\n
- Every racing greyhound has a Set Weight<\/strong>. A Set Weight<\/strong> is established by the trainer\/kennel owner and designated as the optimum weight for a particular greyhound.<\/li>\n
